2 bus lanes, 1 car lane, cycle path

This is a major transit street in Utrecht. The red lanes in the distance are for buses traveling in both directions, and there is one lane for private cars. Notice that the pedestrian crosswalk is the same level across the street – unlike in North America. This clearly illustrates a succession of transportation modes that favours pedestrian and bicycle movement.

From right to left: cycle path, parking lane, car travel lane, 2 bus lanes

Bicycle parking can be hard to find.

Canals are not only beautiful and green open spaces, but they are also important transportation corridors.
